For a brief time I was here - and for a brief time I mattered. (Harlan Ellison)
The third time I met death was age 5. Snuck in the neighbor's yard to pet puppies. They stopped biting when my head hit the driveway and I was knocked out. Woke up in ER. Got a sucker. It was orange. My life? It was all stolen time.
This sounded SO much better in my head at 3am. Oh well. When I travel, I have fun inventing backstories and conversations for people I observe. For a few? I'd rent my soul to hear their thoughts.
Alone on vacation with nowhere to go. Fun.
Not today, but sometimes cats are just metaphorical cruelties of "life". But mirrors, the Ark, Pepsi, sweaters and caps? That's a lot open for misinterpretation. Oh. Xmas Eve. And. YAY BROWNS!!!!! And. Go Buckeyes!
I, being of body and some mind, willfully and voluntarily hereby declare to future humans or aliens. If I need erased from history to save humanity. Such as from a case of mildly inconvenient sniffles. Fine.
Moving on. I guess. From being an idiot. You'd think I'd be used to it. As it's a common enough occurrence. Anyway. The Explorer, Genie and Bo return. They find an alien time machine. And contemplate. Options.
Silent? It would be hard to convey the stillness of it. All the sounds of man, the bleating of sheep, the cries of birds, the hum of insects, the stir that makes the background of our lives - all that was over. (The Time Machine - H. G. Wells)
I've had this one planned for quite awhile. Technically speaking ... it is an alien "invasion" theme. I do love me an economy of words. Especially when they are obtuse. And succinct. At the same time.
College Freshman. I'm about to sleep through a final. My recently deceased grandma wakes me. Running. A gust of wind opens the building doors. And the professor shuts the classroom door behind me. A universe of butterflies?
Let’s set the scene. For? Plot holes. Consider a “body at rest”. Versus. Work, cold, people. On day 3 - why does Phil get out of bed? Seriously. While it may not make a great movie. It would make a great … reality.
If I had a time machine? And. It was possible to change this timeline - rather than create a new one? The world would be at peace. Every day would be harmony from sunrise to sunrise. How you ask? Plants. Just. Plants.
“For in the last moment of his life, as he saw those waiting around him, he knew that the ancient war between Man and insect had long ago been ended, and that Man was not the victor.” - The Awakening, Arthur C. Clarke
A classic Star Trek scene with just a touch of philosophical "tinkering". Khan Noonien Singh is emblematic of those that overly rely on convergent thinking. A lack of "neural diversity" leads to a stagnant brain structure. It's a recipe for winning all the battles. But losing the war.
One of my packing routines is downloading videos for the plane. On a recent trip, I grabbed "The Time Machine" and the 5th season of "The Twilight Zone". I had planned to watch "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge" - but when I saw "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" was also in that season? It went unwatched.
